Your guide to Beach holidays
Spain immediately springs to mind when most of us think of beach holidays. The much-loved Costa Blanca remains a firm favourite with holidaymakers, thanks to its gorgeous weather, scenic beaches and tourist-friendly amenities. Spain, perhaps more than any other country, has taken its naturally beautiful surroundings and enhanced them to make them as tourist-friendly as possible. You’ll find beachfront bars, toilets, water sports, sun loungers and parasols available at most beaches.
The iconic town of Benidorm has long been a tourist favourite, with three of the best beaches in Spain along its coast. The first is the stunning Playa de Levante, the Blue Flag main beach of Benidorm. With a team of lifeguards on hand to give you added peace of mind, the beach is family-friendly during the day with gently sloping sands and clear waters. By night, Playa de Levante buzzes with nightlife at its beachfront restaurants and cafes.
Poniente Beach is situated to the west of Benidorm’s old town and is huge - offering a less crowded experience that other Costa Blanca beaches. Poniente de Levante has the usual amenities you’d expect with plenty of parasols and sunbeds, pristine white sands and clean waters. At night, Poniente de Levante has a quieter ambience than Playa de Levante, making it the perfect place for romantic evening strolls or relaxing sunset drinks. Malpas Beach offers a different, more tranquil atmosphere to the other Benidorm beaches. Located next to the harbour beneath tall cliffs, Malpas Beach is a small but beautiful beach that has none of the crowding and noise of its neighbours.
