Gaze upon Gorgeous Gythion
Gythion, or Gythio as some call it, is a luscious seaside town embedded in sloping hills that run down to a natural bay, this acting as a centrepiece to the fantastic resort which places itself along the southern coast of Peloponnese. Situated well, holidays to Gythion will provide the perfect base from which to explore the various towns and villages around this particular part of Greece. Wherever you decide to head, whether it be towards to centre of Peloponnese to experience the bustling city of Tripoli, or staying closer to home along the coasts, sunning yourself on the gloriously golden beaches of Mavrovouni, you’re sure to find something to suit your holidaying needs while you’re away.
Peruse the Ancient Ruins
As well as being a good base from which to explore Greece, Gythion holidays also offer a range of attractions to suit those who love to cram the camera with picture-perfect portrayals of stone statues and mammoth monuments. In particular, you should take your chances up the hill where you’ll find the Ancient Theatre, while a trip towards the coast will allow you to spot the historical lighthouse. It’s unclear whether or not the lighthouse had ever done a good job before becoming a mainstay of holidays in Gythion, but the giant shipwreck along the shores suggests not, the deserted ship stands tall above the calm waves, marooned without a cause and only offering added character to the golden sands it sits on – but at least the ship was able to add many miles to the galleon before coming to a halt.
