Fancy a holiday right now?
We know many of you are still itching for a last minute summer holiday. Luckily, there are still some fantastic destinations you can get away to this summer, which currently have no quarantine restrictions.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has given some locations a status of 'normal precautions'. This list of locations is also referred to as the 'green list'. The good news is that we have loads of great holidays in many of these green list destinations, so you don't have to miss out!
Remember to check entry requirements in advance, to ensure you can meet them before you travel. Plus, the HSE provides loads of useful information about travel during Coronavirus and green list destinations.
Your guide to Last Minute holidays
Why book a last minute holiday?
There are many reasons you might book a last minute holiday. Perhaps your friends are jetting off and you decide you'd like to join... last minute. Or maybe you've had enough of seeing everyone you know having a great time on holiday, that you decide to book one... last minute. Either way, last minute breaks don't need to be stressful, just think of all the fun you will have soon!
- Spontaneous: when you decide to take a last minute trip, you'll realise how fun spontaneity truly is. Sure, you've got to pack and sort a few things out quickly, but who cares? You'll be on holiday soon enough!
- Quick and easy: the great thing about last minute deals is you don't have to book in advance. This is all about embracing how you feel in the moment. Want to go next week? Or maybe in a few days? It doesn't matter, last minute holidays are all about flexibility.
- Affordable deals: another thing we love about last minute holidays are the cheap deals you can get. Just because you're booking now on the spot, it doesn't mean you have to suffer from crazy prices which are simply too expensive. You might just find the bargain you've been looking for!
The best last minute holiday destinations
So, you know you want to go on holiday, but "where to?" is the next question. It doesn't have to be hard, thanks to the wide range of stunning and sunny destinations we have. Plus, with the newly published green list from the Department of Foreign Affairs, you can travel abroad without restrictions upon your return.
Great! So, back to the all important question of where to go for a last minute break. For city breaks and delicious, authentic food, your best bet is Italy. Home to brilliant cities like Rome, stunning coastlines like the Amalfi Coast and beautiful islands like Sicily, Italy is reminding everyone why they fell in love with it in the first place. On the other hand, you might enjoy historical breaks combined with soft sandy shores. If that's the case, you'll love the likes of Greece and its islands too.
We can't forget to mention the Greek Islands - the perfect all rounders where each island is truly unique. Santorini and Corfu are perfect for couples and families love Crete. Don't forget, there's plenty to explore in Kos and Rhodes too. Or you might prefer slightly more secluded islands like Skiathos and Lefkas.
