During the height of the summer season, many Algarve locations are teeming with visitors. If you feel the need to get away to somewhere more secluded, take the ferry from Olhão to Ilha da Cultura. The spectacular long beach is never overcrowded, and the ocean is crystal clear.

You will be spoiled for choice if you like water sports when you take a holiday in Olhão. Everything from sea fishing to water-skiing can be enjoyed here, and kite-surfing is a particularly popular choice. If you’re keen to explore the undersea world, there are several dive centres offering trips to some excellent sites.
