Pack your bags and prepare for a holiday in Punta Cana in 2021. A Dominican Republic town with an intensely tropical vibe, Punta Cana is located on the eastern segment of the Caribbean nation. A haven for relaxation, activities, and luxury resort living, this town in the Dominican Republic is a windsurfer's paradise.

Referred to as the ‘Coconut Coast’, the picture-perfect resort town is proudly positioned on the coast, where the Atlantic merges with the Caribbean. The great divide creates a stark contrast, with Punta Cana's strip of sand is kissed gently by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea on one side and the sapphire coloured waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the other.

The resort town claims approximately 1,100 acres of land and during peak season, December to April, the beaches are a magnet for holidaymakers who want to top up their tan or engage in watersports. Even if you visit in the cooler months, the temperature never falls below 26 degrees Celsius, offering a sun-drenched destination for your next getaway.

Picture yourself snorkelling around rocky bays and feeling the wind blowing through your hair on a speedboat or sailing tour during your holiday in Punta Cana. These are just a few examples of the many things you can do when you arrive in the Dominican Republic's easternmost point.

The town is home to the Pirate Rum Factory, where you can taste traditional rum brewed on the premises. Admire the hand-painted bottle artwork and and descend into Taino Cave with help from a guide, who will tell you about the Taino civilization.

Mega truck safari excursions prove just as popular as the eco-tours at Scape Park's Hoyo Azul Cenote. Punta Cana's points of interest don't stop there, though. The tropical town lures in holidaymakers with its nature parks, theme tours, water sports, and aerial adventures, such as helicopter and balloon rides.

The town of Punta Cana is praised by beach lovers for its 32-kilometre expanse of sandy bays, where beach resorts, golf courses and local businesses can be seen perched on the sand banks. White sand gently greets the ocean, mostly uninterrupted. Uncrowded, the beaches you find during your Punta Cana holiday are catered towards couples and water sports enthusiasts, with kite surfers regularly taking to the water at Macao beach.

A surf camp can be found on this undeveloped beach, which is a popular location for dune buggy adventures. Uvero Alto beach sits at the island's far north, while Playa Juanillo is positioned on the east coast. Set off on a sunshine cruise from this beach or spend your day sunbathing on Playa Blanca. Better known as White Beach, this main beach's palm grove and white sand landscape creates the perfect setting for a private party. Some other beaches in Punta Cana include Cabeza de Toro, Playa Cabo Engano, Bavaro beach, and Playa Arena Gorda.
